Detox Explained

The word Detox is used so much now that we either turn off as soon as we hear or read the word or, the enormous amount of commercial products and programmes that promise to help us understand this phenomenon just serve to confuse us even more.

Let me try to simplify this popular topic.

We all know in our hearts what we should be doing, stop smoking, cut down or cut out the booze. Lower our intake of fatty and fried foods. Decrease or stop the intake of sugar and high calorie sugary foods etc, etc. So what is left to enjoy? How can I adhere to an eating plan that seems so bland? The point is that it isn’t awful at all. It’s just a matter of re-educating your taste buds and your shopping habits but take it one step at a time. Decide on one change this week and achieve that and another next week.

Do we need to take a multi-vitamin and mineral?

Yes I recommend you do because a lot of our foods contain much lower percentage of these vital nutrients due to the change in farming and storage methods. A necessary organ to look after in your task of detoxifying is the Liver.

The liver is our special organ of detoxification and in order to complete the phases of detoxification that it performs it needs to have a full complement of all essential multi-vitamins and minerals. As we loose weight or begin a detoxification regime we ask the liver to do a lot of extra work and if the liver is not fully supported in its role then we can feel tired and drained. This is also the case if the body does not receive enough water through our intake of fluids (preferably still mineral water) and of fresh fruit and vegetables

Detoxification –

Why?

Over the last number of years, the number of people suffering from

chronic diseases has increased considerably. Proper functioning of the body can be hindered by toxins which originate from a variety of sources:

  Physical: weather, irradiation/light, noise, electro-magnetic fields, etc.

  Chemical: pollution, compounds in our everyday life such as cleaning and body care products, insecticides, medical drugs, etc.

  Biological: bacteria, fungi, viruses, food, allergens, molecules produced by our own body, etc.

  Psychological: stress overload, psychosomatic diseases, etc.The body’s excretion pathways may be able to counteract these negative influences for a time, but become overwhelmed by long-term exposure. When not properly eliminated, toxins build-up and negatively affect the body’s metabolism in a variety of ways such as weakening the immune system, nervous system, hormonal system, vital organs, cellular respiration, antioxidant system and mucosal surfaces. Many diseases are directly related to the body’s incapacity to rid itself of toxins.

Detoxification – How?

Limit further intake of toxic substances.

Establish a healthier lifestyle:

  Eat nutritious foods and follow a balanced diet

  Consume sufficient amounts of water(2-3 litres per day)

  Exercise

  Learn to better manage stress

  Get sufficient amounts of sleep·Reactivate the body’s own detoxification systems (lymphatic, gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal and biliary). I prescribe bespoke plans using homeopathic and nutritional remedies and lifestyle change advice.

How long will it take to detoxify?

A gentle and thorough detoxification takes about 6 weeks to be achieved. This is the time necessary to allow the body to regulate itself and expulse toxins that have accumulated. It is commonly recommended to go through the detoxification process twice a year. In chronic disorders, l may adapt this recommendation and detoxification may be prolonged.

Homotoxicology is deeper than a usual detox therapy!

Effective to:

  Help eliminate toxins

  Stimulate cleansing processes

  Support the organs of excretion

  Help restore balance to the bodyThe Heel Kit is one of the many remedies I use safely and effectively in my practice. The Heel-Kit® combines three carefully formulated homeopathic preparations to help relieve symptoms of illness caused by an unhealthy lifestyle and exposure to toxins. The Heel-Kit® helps stimulate the body’s natural processes of elimination to cleanse itself of toxins and restore balance to the body. Many theories abound as to the necessity of detoxification at all, from great results seen and felt in my clients lives I recommend that detoxification can be a terrific life enhance.

 A healthier you
