Torture is the only word I can use to describe this condition. The stinging and frequency of urine that is the symptom of cystitis can drive you insane. Cystitis means inflammation of the bladder.
There are a few things you can do straight away. The first is to go to your pharmacy and get Potassium Citrate. It tastes yucky (like lemony sea water!) but it really helps to stop that stingy feeling when you pee. It works by alkalising your urine and so it doesn’t sting. Potassium Citrate also leaves a less friendly surrounding for bacteria in your bladder. You can usually use this alongside other medications and your local pharmacy will be happy to check.
Using a hot water bottle to the abdominal area can help.
So perhaps a little relief got. Now the work begins to get to the reason. Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) are debilitating but can be helped naturally. It is important to have your urine tested to ensure any infection is treated with the correct antibiotic as UTIs can be serious.
To prevent recurring UTIs my approach is;
Take a full medical history
Check your bowel health
Help you find the correct probiotic for YOU
Yes, I did say probiotic and yes, I know it works its way through the digestive system but did you know that in order to boost your immune system you must ensure your microbiome are balance.
These are the initial steps and I may also employ other gentle strategies that work naturally with your body such as low dose bio tech medicine known as PRM. Live Well Clinic upholds it ethos of ‘Health Care Naturally’
Don’t feel you have to live with this condition there are many successful treatments and I am happy to help find the best one for you.
